Mentoring

Practical Partnerships, (formerly the East Midlands Arts Mentoring Scheme) was open to artists, performers, or other arts practitioners who are living or working in the East Midlands region, whose development needs are unique to themselves, and where input from another person with special artistic or personal qualities can make a big difference to their future.

Mentoring is a powerful change agent:

Since the scheme was launched five years ago, over eighty people have taken part. Most have reported that the process has been hugely rewarding and highly significant in moving them forward in their work. They would agree that it is important for participants to agree very clear objectives from the start to obtain maximum benefit from the relationship.

Mentors are paid to take part:

Applicants can ask for a mentor of their choice. Where they do not have anyone particular in mind ATC can usually suggest someone suitable from our database or list of contacts. In either case mentors are paid a fee of £500 for taking part, covering a notional six meetings. An additional allowance is available to cover out of pocket expenses for both parties.

Supported by ATC

ATC has over twenty years of experience in supporting the development of artists, and is aware of the wide range of individual needs found within the sector.

"Being mentored at this crucial moment in my career, I believe made the difference between a satisfactory job and an enjoyable career. Not just for me but for several others!."
